Growing up in two countries and around a family-owned business, Nancy Khoury-Zuanich learned to bridge cultural differences. Our Bellevue Associate Commercial Relationship Manager also developed skills and perspectives that guide her today.

Nancy was born in the United States and spent eight years in Lebanon as a child. She became fluent in Arabic and studied other languages as well. Her family returned to the U.S. when her parents bought a gas station in Blaine, Wash., on the Canadian border. Nancy started working there at age 14 and still helps out on a regular basis.

“My ethics come from a small family business background,” she said.

Nancy earned a degree in mathematics at Washington State University in 2012, and joined our team as a floating teller in our Blaine Branch. She also served as a personal banker and assistant branch manager. While attending bank training in Bellevue, Nancy fell in love with the city and eventually moved there with her sister.

In early 2020, Nancy went to work for the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce, an organization she now serves as a board member. Her two years at the Chamber expanded her understanding of business relationship building. She got to know the local business community and participated in marketing activities.

Nancy rejoined our ranks in 2022 as Assistant Branch Manager of our Kirkland Branch. The next year, she transitioned from Community Banking to her current role on our Middle Market Commercial Banking team, which serves businesses with revenues typically above $50 million. As she looks to build her career and advance to a full Commercial RM position, Nancy is thankful to work with “two great leaders,” Andrew Tubb, Middle Market Commercial Division Director, and Greg Morris, Middle Market Commercial RM.

“They are so delightful and so well respected,” she said. “I am beyond grateful that they are willing to invest in me. I’m fortunate one of my mentors is my direct boss and I’m able to ask him questions and not feel dumb.”

Thrilled to draw upon her love of numbers, Nancy added, “I like the complicated stuff. I like a challenge. The best part is that I get to help with their deals and learn along the way. It’s so much fun! I love it when I see equations!”

She credits another mentor, our Walla Walla Branch Manager Brad Baumann, with inspiring her passion for complicated details, saying he helped her understand our underwriting process and how to analyze financial data and develop real world solutions. He also encouraged her community involvement.

“I owe him a lot in terms of my career growth,” she said.

Recently married, Nancy lives in Bothell, works in her beloved Bellevue, and visits her family in Blaine about twice a month. In addition to the Bellevue Chamber Board, Nancy is also on the Board of the Kirkland Chamber, a member of the Kirkland Rotary Club, and Board President of her neighborhood homeowners association. She is committed to helping Banner grow, aims to support women in leadership and envisions developing a broader mentorship program so others can pursue their potential guided by knowledgeable professionals.

“My career path is limitless. I love to learn and I’m just looking forward to what the future holds.”
